JohnnyO Goes to Washington

Going to DC on business. Taking the train. I don't like leaving my kids. I don't like being away from them. I can't explain it, but it it is an uncomfortable feeling leaving them - I will truly miss them. Does anyone else go through this?

I told the kids this morning I was going on a trip.
Jaclyn said, "Are you going to see the President?"
David said, "You are going to BE the President?"

Before I left, Jaclyn made me lunch. She said it was important that I have food for my bus ride and for my "field trip". She really showed me love today and I needed it.

Have a safe trip. Thanks for stopping by my blog. It's fresh to read a dad's perspective on parenthood, I've been reading alot of mommy-views. Keep writing! I've been pondering a travel for work post myself. You'll probably see it later this week.

honestly, it's like you are one of the very few fathers who feel that way (sorry about this--i might get adverse reactions from other fathers). and yes, i admire you for that. your wife and kids must be very happy with your care. my first time here, but i guess, i will be reading your other posts!

Glad you left a comment on my blog. I would want to continue to enjoy reading your thoughts on fatherhood- I'd probably appreciate my husband so much more.

My wife and I experience the same feelings when we leave our son. Ok, so the only times we've been without him overnight were the few times he spent the night with his grandparents. Even though its only one night, it's still tough.

We can't wait for the time alone, and then we drop him off and within 30 minutes we're missing him. Before long though, we remember why we wanted some "alone time" in the first place ;-)
